For the first time in Vancouver Whitecaps MLS history, the Whitecaps will open the upper bowl in their clash against LAFC. It is fascinating as in the previous years, the Caps couldn't manage to get the upper bowl to open. The last time that the upper bowl was opened at BC Place in a Vancouver Whitecaps match, was when David Beckham and the LA Galaxy visited in 2007 pre-MLS era.

Highest Attendance

The Whitecaps could possibly manage to have the most people they have ever received in attendance. Currently, 24,311 tickets have been sold they have a few more days to gain more sells to get the highest recorded BC Place crowd for the Whitecaps. Potentially the most attended crowd. An approximate of possibly 30K+ with the trend these ticket sales are going. This might be a major factor in the match, and finally the potential being shown by the Whitecaps. To potentially get the most ever in the stands, for the MLS era Whitecaps. For now, Ticketmaster has only had the unfamiliar territories of section 439-443 opened currently. If I had to approximate more sections will most likely be unbolted soon. But it will for sure still be an special game inside the reigns of BC Place. With the upper bowl being experimented for the first time in Whitecaps' MLS history. They have gotten an attendance of 27K+ in the lower bowl several times before I believe, but never above thirty thousand during an Vancouver Whitecaps game. I see immense potential for the final attendance number that will be in BC Place on Sunday evening at 4:30pm.

What does this mean for the future

This has the potential to indicate, that this might be the beginning of bigger and more stable attendances at BC Place. And with enough buzz and excitement for the Whitecaps, they might even continue to open the upper bowl if they can consistently attract more viewers. But it is still unlikely, since the Caps has not been successfully getting 20K people in the stands very often. As now the third time in this campaign where the Whitecaps will have at least 20K in the stadium. However, despite it not looking to be too realistic to permanently open the upper seating next season. Could they potentially get that done, with some more advertising and curiousity being brought to this team. As if the neutral people in British Columbia, attends a match where the performance and environment is superb. Then he might make a decision to come to even more matches. So an major portion of this piece to maybe eventually being available to unclose the upper bowl, and be more consistent in form and performances to get a great Vancouver Whitecaps FC squad that can perform at top-notch and most importantly be entertaining and fun to watch. So potentially in the future, the upper bowl can potentially be opened more often next year during big occasions. Then continuing on to build quality and a great foundation to continuously attract more spectators to BC Place then finally to open the upper bowl. So quite a bit still needs to be done and prepared before the grand opening of the upper bowl. Where the Whitecaps' neighbors BC Lions of the CFL who also plays at BC Place, has opened up the upper bowl for this whole season as they usually attract more people than the Whitecaps. So it will be eventually I believe where the time will come for the upper bowl to be also consistently opened and ready to rock for the Whitecaps. Whether if more sections of the upper bowl will be opened for the Whitecaps, is still sort of unknown. I predicted there will be more seats available, so it will be more optimal and looking forward to the future to observe what it will be like in the upcoming seasons.

Must win

As most supporters will probably know. This could be the last match of the 2023 campaign. And it will be most likely the biggest crowd of the 2023 season (as only less than 1,000 tickets need to be sold to surpass the record) and post-covid. But as well as the potential biggest crowd of the Whitecaps history in the MLS era. This is also an decisive game for the Whitecaps season, as an loss will indicate the campaign being done and dusted for this entertaining and joyful to watch Vancouver Whitecaps team. So the people in the stands should be really having anxiety and nerves, with the season on the line. Even if, the Whitecaps beat LAFC in Game 2. This might still be the final home match for the Whitecaps this season. As they will also have to secure the victory in Game 3, to get the series win. As well as, with a victory and a good match day experience. They can possibly again attract them to come back. Especially in such a tense and probably an hostile environment. But here, the Whitecaps will have to win and keep their playoff dreams alive in front of the massive crowd with the upper bowl opened.
