Leagues Cup Whitecaps West 3 group scenarios

Possible Scenarios for Vancouver 1. If Galaxy wins and Leon loses, all Vancouver has to do is get two points vs the Galaxy. As Club Leon won the shootout that night in BC Place so Leon got the advantage if it's tied on points.

2. If Leon wins and Galaxy loses, then Vancouver will have to get 2 points to go through as 1 point wouldn't be enough because if Galaxy wins the shootout versus the Whitecaps in this scenario then Galaxy will have the head to head advantage.

3. If Galaxy wins the shootout and gets 2 points while Leon gets one, then the Whitecaps will have to get at least a penalty shootout win to force a 3 way tie. The first tiebreaker should be head to head but each team won against one team and lost to the other in this scenario. As in this Leagues Cup their are no ties. So each team will win a penalty shootout and lose the other. Then it'll be down to Goal Difference I believe, but then every team tied against one another, so it'll be headed to goals scored, unfortunately I'm not sure about the 3 way tie tiebreaker. I believe that the 2 way tiebreaker will also apply to the 3 way tiebreaker. A win will make them automatically through.

4. If Club Leon wins the shootout and gets 2 points while Galaxy only gets 1 point, then Vancouver has to win in the penalty shootout to go through, a point/ a penalty shootout loss wouldn't be enough. A win will make Vancouver go through.

In conclusion, in scenario 1, 2 and 4 a penalty shootout win will be enough for Vancouver to go through. But in scenario 3 it'll be up to what is the scoreline of the remaining 2 games in West 3. As if Leon and Galaxy go for a 4-4 scoreline, then Vancouver will need to get a 5-5 scoreline to go through I believe. The Whitecaps will have to face the Galaxy and grab at least two points go through. I think one will not be enough for any of the scenarios. A win in scenario 1 and 3 will get them the top spot. While for 2 and 4 Leon will get the top spot.
