Can the depth of the Whitecaps handle this patch of frequent and tricky matches?

Schedule

So first of all, the schedule here before it was 6 games in I believe 18 days I believe in the match before Houston, which means the Whitecaps will play every 4 days but now you have went past 2 of those 6 matches already, in this tough and unique patch of matches with the Whitecaps playing a lot of games during this stretch after the 2 week break they had in between New York City FC and Toronto FC then the grind and workload continues with 7 games in around 21 days I believe, as they have a game that has been delayed to all the way here where only two matches are playing on Wednesday. While the Whitecaps will have 4 matches in around 12 days, so they will have to plan accordingly and be willing to give rest to some of their key and important players. With 3 of those crucial matches in this final stretch of this season being against top 3 in the West where Vancouver is trying to peak up there right now against St Louis, Seattle and LAFC ut that's after this patch of constant games and will be after a 2 week break so the Caps should be fitted than ever heading into Decision Day. But here fatigue is a huge part of either the Caps success or failure.

Versatility

There are multiple players that are a Whitecaps player that can play 2 or more positions on the soccer pitch, as during this patch of tough games they might possibly have to be forced out of position as the depth of one position is weaker than another. As players like Hoilett, Ahmed, Raposo and Gauld can play various positions that might be helpful towards the Whitecaps to have a solution for the second position when squad depth is weak or players have some injury issues. So that has the potential to be important during this run of 7 games in 21 days even though your around halfway done in this constant patch of matches where the playoffs is glooming right in your face waiting for you to arrive, and Vanni still likes to play his top players but he needs to play someone at a position where it isn't their main position but stilla position that they can still play sustainably to his usual performances.

Injuries

While for the Whitecaps currently nobody is injured other than Martins and Hasal, while Adekugbe is slowly working towards regaining his full powers who just returned in the recent game against RSL, but to get injured in the business end of the season, you will have mixed thoughts to say the least. As the smallest injury will make you miss 1 matchday and that 1 match will be crucial to whether if your team qualifies or not for the playoffs, so if it's a small injury it'll probably be the most unlucky time to not be 100% fit for your teams most important games of the season, and even if you can play as you've gotten a bit of a knock that can still potentially make you not able to achieve your best results out there on the pitch, on the other hand a long term injury might be ideal, as you have the whole off-season to recover as we've saw from Russell Teibert last season as he was available when the season started after a surgery on the right ankle, so you have loads of recovery time in the off-season if it was a long term one but you would still be missing the teams most crucial games and possibly the playoffs as well so it is obviously still a bummer suffering a long injury, so if players need some rest Vanni shouldn't excessively risk it and give them some rest or getting subbed off slightly earlier, and doing the players a favour by giving them some recovery day and just focus on recovery after hard fought matches.

Depth

Now certain positions are slightly stronger than the others but something that the Whitecaps has established this season is that they have pretty good ability even on the bench, as for the first time in a while, Vanni can turn to his bench and trust his backup players. For the goalkeeper situation, Vanni has publicly stated that Takaoka will start every game until the Whitecaps have officially clinched a playoff spot, until then or if they can ever clinch a automatic playoff spot this season Yohei Takaoka will start for the Whitecaps every game, then Issac Boehmer can potentially get one more game in if the Whitecaps can qualify for the playoffs before the end of the season. So the goalie situation is pretty straight forward assuming Vanni didn't change his decision.

For the midfield now more specifically the center-midfielders and the center defensive midfielder, now I believe that Berhalter and Schopf can play both of those positions as they can rotate between a spot where it is more forward and a spot where is more defensive and even Ali Ahmed since he was playing full back for last season for the 2 games he was subbed on for the senior team and Whitecaps FC 2 so I believe he has some defensive capabilities, while Cubas can also play both positions if needed but he is more suited for that CDM role as that is what he succeeds in doing. While there is still Vite, Ngando, Hoilett can play in this deeper position if necessary if you need some leadership then Teibert if the intensity is at a all time low he can possibly bring that up being at this club since the start of the MLS era, Vite can and probably should be a starter every match as he is very skilled and talented so the midfield depth is great and can for sure have multiple, disciplined options if needed.

Now for the wing-backs there's Sam Adekugbe, Richie Laryea and Ryan Raposo, if Martins returns he can play here as a option too all three of Laryea, Adekugbe and Raposo can play both sides of the wing-back area, as Laryea and Adekugbe switched for a moment where Laryea was playing left wing-back and Adekugbe was playing right wing-back against New York and I believe it happened for a minute for Laryea in one of the matches too, while for Raposo he can cut in and place crosses pretty good so three great options and if Martins returns before the end of the season then he can also be a part of this rotation of wing-backs, also the new signing Junior Hoilett can also potentially join this spot as his versatility is incredible, and he has some experience playing in this position as well so there could be a filling if 2/3 important players are out due to injuries, suspension, resting and Hoilett can for sure play there.

Striker position. Ryan Gauld and Brian White potentially the best pairing in Whitecaps FC history as them two are just spectacular complementing each other so we'll, but if Gauld sticks to his natural position and with Cordova departing earlier this month, the only other option is Simon Becher which is quite risky as it might force Vanni to only play a 1 man striker if somehow one of the duo gets a suspension, injury or all that stuff, because Simon Becher has been pretty non-effective lately last goal dating all the way back to May 24, which is probably slightly poor especially the high expectations some Caps fans have set for him at the start of the season, is Becher going to be reliable in a crucial game? The answer is possibly, as his inexperience as this is his rookie season and he hasn't started many games might make him feel a slight nervousness. But here's the great news, if absolutely needed Junior Hoilett can also potentially be a striker in my opinion as he is super versatile and can be important to our depth.

But overall this Caps team has loads of depth and can probably continue their playoff push even though there's no room for relaxing and resting currently in the large stretch of games in quite a short amount of time.
